Harps are not cheap instruments and one of the most common reasons that an interested student decides not to try harp lessons is cost of getting a harp to practice on between lessons. It’s understandable to worry about spending a lot of money on a harp then later deciding not to continue lessons due to lack of time or interest. This is especially true for parents of children interested in playing the harp, as children often do not realize the time and practice involved in learning an instrument
For this reason, Maggie offers her Lyon & Healy Ogden lever harp for short-term rental to prospective students (when available). Renting the Ogden is a great choice for anyone who wants to have a few lessons and get an idea of what learning the harp is like before making the commitment to get a harp of their own. The Ogden is available for monthly rental up to 3 months, at which point the harp will need to be returned for other student usage or – in certain circumstances – the rental period can be extended.
The Lyon & Healy Ogden is a 34-string lever harp with concert strings and spacing, giving it a large and beautifully warm tone for the size. The full set of levers and 34 strings makes the Ogden a great harp with all the range and capabilities that any beginning student or lever harpist might need. Many of Maggie’s students have Ogdens of their own, as they are such wonderful and dependable instruments.
Please note, the Ogden is only available for rent to students taking harp lessons from Maggie during the period of rental. If you have any questions about the Ogden or terms of rental, please feel free to Contact Maggie to check on the Ogden’s availability.
There are many options for a new student to purchase or rent-to-own a new or used harp. Maggie is more than happy to discuss all of the options and details with you and help you decide what works best for you and your budget.
